Real news from Defkalion

Woomera:

G’Day, I was JUST in Athens and met with representatives of Defkalion.  They told me that they were going to begin selling their LENR device this July 2012.

I was shown their R&D model which just starts with a flick of the switch.  It also turns off with a just a flick of the same switch.  They have their model running at 250degc.  They can get their LENR to run over 350degc (dry steam), but they need something more than the current fluid that they are using.  Rossi has problem shutting down his E-CAT.  Rossi is a “one-man-band” and Defkalion has 27 scientists.

Several groups have come to see them including NASA.  They have taken down their blog on their website to enable their 27 scientists to just concentrate on their work to finalize a commercial LENR.  Each unit will have as many as five (5ea) LENRs, each running at 5kw. I went there to investigate possible investment.  They only want BIG investors.  They have MANY OEM (original equipment manufacturers) already on board internationally.  They intend to manufacture 300,000 units in the first year.  It will cost only 30 Euros/year to operate each LENR device

They have all the European certificates.  Everyone else in the world recognises the EU certificates, except the United States.  Defkalion had decided the US is in the ‘too-hard-basket’ and won’t manufacture or sell to the US. The units will be monitored via mobile telephone or internet to insure their proper operation.

I was told that they were trying to actually see what happens in their device with some glass with a melting point of 1500degc.  They saw it light up like the sun and then it melted the glass.  This just took a second or two.  I was told what their working theory was, but they really don’t know what is going on.  They have brought in several academics with a myraid of explanations.

This looks like a real go’er.  It will change the world.  I’m sorry for not disclosing more.  I was told specifics, but was asked to keep them confidential.

These are exciting times. The whole world awaits.  Life is about to change.

Oh yes, I went to Greece, just to go island hopping for a week.  I was on the 1st boat of the season.  I would suggest May or September.  DO NOT GO in August!  The islands double in population in August and it’s TOO HOT and windy.  Lovely place with lovely people!

Regards,  Woomera

The melting of the glass is sure a head scratcher. I hope this doesn’t affect their certification. To me it just shows they don’t fully understand what they have yet, but I don’t care, I just want shipped Units.
    July isn’t that far away!

    • Greg Goble Says:

The U.S. Presidential electon may see LENR machinery as an election platform plank. Who will announce that their election will usher in an administration that will end oil, coal, natural gas fracking, tar sands, pipelines, deep water oil leases, deforestation for charcoal, parkland energy resource development encroachment, while bringing in a global warming solution and much much more?

      • brucefast Says:

But who wants a presidential campaign that is pegged with a “pathological science” label. The presidential campaign cannot pick up on LENR in a serous way until there is no longer any question of its legitimacy. At that point both parties will be on the same band wagon in a huge way. It may, however, be a great tool for cutting through the red tape of bureaucracy.

Could you imagine a world where Defkalion was selling a device in Europe, but wouldn’t sell in the USA? Could you imagine a world where Rossi says that it can’t get certification, but the Europeans can? Could you imagine the presidential candidates bending over every which way to rectify this dilemma, nay crisis!

  2. Josh Says:

Do we have any idea who Woomera is? This is the Internet after all… anyone can claim anything. I just hadn’t heard of this player before today.

  3. brucefast Says:

No we really don’t know who Woomera is. He could be a creative storyteller. However, in our thirst to get something out of Defkalion, especially since this is consistent with the other tidbits we have heard, it seems reasonable to cautiously believe that this is a true account.

  4. Roger Bird Says:

This is some of the finest and most promising hot air to come along is several months. But it is still just hot air.

If I were going to announce the global new energy and economic order, as Woomera seems to be doing, I would most certainly use my own, real name.

  5. kwhilborn Says:

    It is nice to hope.

“Mining companies have in the past announced they hit the mother load. Then investors swarm in and buy shares. Then the company collapses and the CEO retires to a beach in Brazil.”

    Just a thought….

I would like to remind people.

-Nobody has ever claimed to have seen a Defkalion Product. Ever, ever.

-Defkalion openly lied saying they were testing thousands of units, and months later said they had only a few they were testing. This lie was addressed on their forums which are still open for reading if not commenting.

    it was addressed here..

    http://defkalion-energy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=635

-Let us also remember that nobody has ever ever seen a picture of a Defkalion product. Some might argue that the possibly faked spec sheet had some fuzzy photos but one was a computer mock-up and the other was too fuzzy to see anything.

I forgot Sterling Allen visited them and saw the sam green photo one, and we have a video of a lot of tin foiled stuff looking nothing like the fuzzy picture.

-Let’s remember that they announced they were going to shock the world within 2 weeks, and then 16 days later (not 2 weeks) issued a “spec” sheet that my teenage son could’ve thought up and typed in a few hours. If he handed it into school as a science project he would have failed.

Defkalion has been NOTHING but YAP, YAP, YAP since day one. It is nice to be hopeful, but if you are serious about being a “high priced” investor as this new blog was fishing for I’d think twice. I would at least bring a few physicists with me when testing their equipment.

I love LENR technology and know it will replace dirty gasoline in all of our cars within a decade. I like that Andrea Rossi and Defkalion have made efforts to publicize LENR. I am very hopeful they are not a bunch of lying scoundrels. But it is only hope.

I believe in Andrea Rossi, but Defkalion has never shown the world anything except a trumped up Spec sheet with a fuzzy photo. I’d be careful with my wallet where they are concerned.

the 1000s of reactor is a self ignited idea of readers, not a word of defkalion. It is easy to pretend DGT lied by not respeecting what they did not said… on those forum ther was clearly many self-ignited rumors …

unlike rossi they did not even claimed continuous test, just many simultaneous test. coherent with the systematic test they seems to show on their video, and their technology change that seems to imply new parameters (thus tests).

about pics, since we are not targets, it is normal we have few data.
      visitors have seen the reactors.
transferable proof is not easy, and not the target.
that is the job of the independent tests

about the tests, it was a mistake to propose publishing protocol and testers names, while the old-fashion testers would rationally refuse to be bothered by people like you…
      today’s situation is rational.

I’m just afraid that the testers, not DGT, delay the publishing because the news is too big for their bollocks.

  6. Brad Arnold Says:

Sorry to be a wet blanket, but I am sooo disappointed that Defkalion appears not to have achieved a LENR generator produced temperature of above 250C (disregarding the nonsense about needing a “different fluid” to get higher temperatures because if they haven’t got swapped out an improved fluid yet it is meaningless). Basically, they’ve got the same thing Rossi has, but with the bulky and less safe hydrogen canister under pressure connected to the reaction chamber.

Sure would like to know the hangup, if the reaction chamber is running significantly higher, that it can’t be engineered to produce close that. Maybe, while Rossi is a “one man show,” Defkalion is also too small to summon the R&D to make a LENR generator able to swap out a coal/natural gas/nuclear furnace used to power conventional steam turbines. 900C would be great, 250C (even 300C) means specialized steam turbines, which means scrapping all conventional power plants.

    • alaincoe Says:

they already have designed a version that work until 415C by using molten salt fluid.
they have a much better version than rossi, except (according to the current spec), you are right, the bulky (32g of H2 at 200bar ) canister.

I don’t understand you comment about fluid.
of course the choice of the fluid is important to allow higher temperature. Diathermic oils for example are destroyed quickly if temperature get too high, and even in their working range they are to be changed in less than 1 year.

also look in nucleare power plant, how difficult it is to have a cooling fluid above pressurized water range…
i understand that defkalion refuse to use molten sodium, or lead-bismuth alloy… maybe they can try critical CO2, but with pressurized H and high temperature, maybe they have complex problems…
also about diathermic oils, maybe it is too dangerous to have hydrocarbons plus H2 plus high temperature.
It seems they used only fluids that cannot burn with oxygen or hydrogen (water, salts).

they say that they reactor work until 650C (limit of bare rector test) and according to the buzz, up to 900C.
note that it is not surprizing since celani make a similar reactor work at 900C with higher energy density (add zirconium for high temperature).
according to the buzz they also have the usual 350C dry steam that is good for turbines (no surprise if you got 415C/650C/900C).

anyway for most application , like bread/cake/roast/pizza oven, or steam turbines (like in nuclear power plants), 300C-400C is sufficient. and maybe is it more rational, like in nuclear power plant, to have cheaper , safer, 350C turbines, than to have the cos , complexity, and risk of 900C fluid with just better carnot cycle efficiency (not even so sure it is better, since ther will be many technical problems that may kill efficiency).
look at technology for fast neutrons nucleare reactors, and you will see that it is complicated, especially if you analyze the cost/efficiency ratio.

mean while Rossi is only proud of a 250C (lower pressure, same catalyst… )… quite low, and it would be rational to get higher, up to usual 350C.
however it would be rational for him not to talk of a better result.
Hiding is normal in business, except for patent.
But Rossi is not so rational. Who knows.

to be honest, Defkalion did not do any magic, just expected engineer work, because the scientific papers are public and give the key data. all the rest is either engineering methodology or oriented trial and error based on scientific hint (the catalysts are probably H+ generator, classic hydrocarbon catalyst, H+ or e- reversible transporters).

pay 25 various good engineer and few experienced researchers, a good lab, good academic library, many phone numbers of experts, let them 6 month, and you have it.
      Opps, they did it already.

      • Brad Arnold Says:

“they already have designed a version that work until 415C by using molten salt fluid.”

“i understand that defkalion refuse to use molten sodium, or lead-bismuth alloy…”

Who are “they” in the first quote alaincoe?

“…nonsense about needing a “different fluid” to get higher temperatures because if they haven’t got swapped out an improved fluid yet it is meaningless.”

“I don’t understand you comment about fluid.”

My comment about fluid that I quoted here is a comment that if Defkalion has a “different fluid,” then they ought to use it. It is meaningless to say on the one hand they have a “different fluid” that could allow the LENR generator to run at 350C (dry steam), but that they are not using it. Either they have it or not.

One last question alaincoe: you say that “they” have already designed a version that work until 415C by using molten salt, but then you say that Defkalion refuses to use molten salt. Again with the disconnect – either Defkalion can run their LENR at 415C or not, and either they have a different fluid from the one they are using to run their LENR generator at 300C or not. Which is it??

      • alaincoe Says:

        @brad arnold

They is for Defkalion (He is for Rossi 8> )

DGT have a version of their reactor using molten salt that they plan to market (I never say they refuse to sell it).
it seems more expensive, and need a different pump and plumbing. until 350C they use synthetic oil (alkyl aromatic), an then molten salt

molten sodium is another case since it can explode.
Lead seems not to be a good idea since they try to respect EU REACH regulation against toxic product (their radiation screen is heavy plastic, not lead). they did not talk of that ideas, and I use them as example, from the new nuclear technology.

so yes, read the spec, the 350-415C is one of the temperature range targeted in November specifications.
for “serie D” 10-45kW industrial reactor, with molten salts.

it is true that other reactors at targeted at lower temperatures (185C, 285C), but it seems to be first linked to the max power , then to marketing targets and complexity of high pressure plumbing…

anyway it is old specification, and they seems to have discovered new catalyst, and increased the temperature range (650C?900C), so maybe there will be new series E & F for high temperatures applications… some for superheated steam…

    • brucefast Says:

      Brad,
To change the world, 250c is PLENTY! Give these things 20 years and they will look nothing like the products that either Defkalion or Rossi is putting out.

  7. Roger Bird Says:

I got this from a spiritually oriented listserv, believe it or not:

After seeing this, my mind is open to just about anything.

    • brucefast Says:

Roger, please don’t let your mind be open to too much. You might find that you own a bridge in Brooklyn.

      • Roger Bird Says:

Actually, our minds are completely open, but we go back and review everything that we (or others) experience with a little discrimination.

Go ahead, offer me the Brooklyn Bridge. I might even listen, for a while anyway.

They have all the European certificates. Everyone else in the world recognises the EU certificates, except the United States.

Regarding licensing of domestic electric and/or gas appliances in Australia and New Zealand. EU certificates are NOT automatically recognised in Australia and New Zealand.
A device based on an unknown physical principle is unlikely to be approved for use in ANZ. I asked if the same for UL. Answer: unlikely to be approved. Not discussed was the existence in the device of temperatures over 1000 degrees, Do you think this would make it more likely to be approved?

  9. Iggy Dalrymple Says:

Is that some sort of secret catalyst?

  10. Joannes Van den Bogaert Says:

What happened to THERMACORE cold fusion?

    • Craig Binns Says:

What happened to Defkalion “selling their LENR device this July 2012″? That’s what “Woomerra” says in his “real news”, top of page!
